If you are visiting Romania and looking for a unique accommodation in Sighisoara, then Boutique Hotel von Graf might be the perfect place to book for your stay.

Situated in one of the oldest buildings of its kind in Sighisoara, the hotel is believed to have existed since at least 1734.

The boutique hotel has been recently renovated and offers unique and intimate atmosphere, stylish design and a distinct character. Situated in the heart of the medieval citadel, the location is excellent to explore the historic town of Sighisoara.

Why We Chose Boutique Hotel von Graf

In terms of accommodation, we would recommend booking your accommodation through an aggregator such as Booking.com or Agoda to get the best rates.

During our city breaks, we tend to sleep at the hotel, have breakfast and be out and about all day, so we weren’t after luxury accommodation or one with a lot of amenities. We chose Boutique Hotel von Graf, due to the following reasons:

  • Excellent location in the heart of the medieval citadel
  • Hotel with a character and medieval features
  • Recently refurbished
  • Great reviews on Booking and TripAdvisor

Overall, we had a great experience. The hotel was clean and the room was fantastic with its unique design and features. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the fresh and delicious breakfast in the morning.

We share more about our experience below.

How to Get to Boutique Hotel von Graf

Boutique Hotel von Graf is situated in the medieval citadel in the heart of the Sighisoara. The citadel is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

It is conveniently located at one of the most picturesque streets in Sighisoara, Strada Tâmplarilor, famous for its brightly painted houses and cobblestones.

We travelled to Sighisoara by train. From the train station you can either walk around 20 minutes or if you have luggage (like us), you can just get a taxi. Taxis in Sighisoara are affordable and perhaps the best transport option.

Alternatively, you can reach the hotel by car from your destination. If you are considering renting a car whilst in Romania, check Rentalcars.com to find the best deal.

Don’t worry, you can’t miss this bright pink painted hotel. It stands out from the outside and certainly would impress you on the inside. It blends perfectly with the colours of the neighboring houses on the street.

Address: Strada Tâmplarilor 4, Sighișoara 545400, Romania

Check-in Experience

The check-in experience was really smooth. We completed the standard check-in formalities and were shown to our room.

The staff member was polite and professional and explained all we needed to know about the hotel and about our stay – reception working hours, breakfast, what to do if we needed help after working hours etc.

Lobby

There isn’t a lobby area as such. When you enter the hotel, you would see a bench where you can sit whilst waiting or you could admire the beautiful souvenirs that are sold there.

If you go straight past reception and towards the restaurant, you would see an outdoor area with tables and benches which during the summer could double as an extension to the lobby. On a cold winter day, sitting outside wasn’t really an option for us.

Hotel Room

There was certainly the WOW effect when we entered the room!

It was exactly as presented online and highlights the unique aspect and features of the room.

We booked the Premium Triple Room with Canopy. The room is located on the ground floor by the main entrance and next to reception.

The room was really spacious and beautifully decorated. A place where the warmth of wooden floors meets the embrace of a wooden ceiling and old beams.

The regal presence of a four-poster bed, adorned with a captivating canopy, transported us to a bygone era of medieval elegance. We were surprised how comfortable the bed was and had a really good and restful sleep.

Enhancing the rustic charm, the wooden bedside tables seamlessly complemented the elegant décor, offering convenience within arm’s reach.

A castle-type bed was also part of the décor. Crafted entirely from wood with intricate designs that evoke the charm of medieval times, this enchanting bed is more than a bed —it’s a portal to a realm of dreams.

Picture soft, romantic lights cascading from above, casting a gentle glow that transforms the space into a romantic escape, creating an ambiance that lingers with the magic of shared moments and everlasting memories.

A beautiful vanity table was also available, mirroring the room’s exquisite ambiance. It would have been nice if there was some lighting but unfortunately the light bulbs were missing.

The room was also equipped with a wardrobe, fashioned from the same warm wood, providing ample space for our belongings.

By the windows, there is a beautiful wooden table where you can find tea and coffee making facilities. We enjoyed some quality time sipping a tea and sitting on the comfortable armchairs.

Don’t forget to look through the window. The room also offers a great view towards the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, which is one of the attractions in Sighisoara.

Each detail meticulously curated, this room is a testament to timeless beauty and refined comfort.

Bathroom

The bathroom was a good size with large shower area with a hand-held shower. Shampoo, shower gel and soap were provided.

The main feature was a wooden towel rack adding a distinctive touch of elegance to the contemporary setting. This thoughtful integration of wood into the bathroom design not only complements the overall aesthetic but also introduces a warm, natural element

Breakfast at Boutique Hotel von Graf

Breakfast is served at the restaurant located in the basement. The restaurant is a beautifully arranged cellar, which reminded us of many restaurants we have been to in Sibiu and Brasov.

The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and beautifully presented. Food was fresh and there were enough items to choose from to kick start your day.

From the cold section, vegetables, salamis, cheese were available and there were hot items including bacon, ready made omelette and pancakes. We believe a hotel like this could enhance its personal touch by offering eggs your way made to order.

We also had a selection of traditional Romanian delicacies such as meat jelly, cured pork fat, crackling, sheep’s cheese, baba ghanoush and more.

They also had a bottle of palincă (fruit brandy) and Paul was even wondering if this is for decoration or for consumption 😉

This was the first time I have seen these at a Romanian hotel for breakfast.

Muesli and cereals were offered as standard. There was home made cake and tasty croissants as well as individually wrapped treats.

In terms of drinks, we had the usual tea, coffee, water, juices and milk. The coffee actually was good and unlike some of the other hotels we stood at, the coffee did its job – to wake you up.

The restaurant also has an outside terrace which was a nice surprise. If the weather was warmer, we would have been having our breakfast outside.
