If you are visiting China and looking for a convenient hotel in Guilin with some amazing views, then Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin might be the perfect place to book for your accommodation.

Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin offers spacious comfortable rooms and suites, great breakfast and picturesque views of the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill and the Li River.

This combined with its affordable prices and amenities, make it a great value for leisure or business travellers.

Why We Chose Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin

In terms of accommodation, we would recommend booking your hotel through an aggregator such as Booking.com or Trip.com to get the best rates. On this occasion, and for all hotels in China, we booked our hotel in Guilin via Trip.com.

Given how picturesque Guilin is, we wanted a hotel with central location and great views. We absolutely hit the jackpot by choosing this hotel.

We chose Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin, due to the following reasons:

  • Great location – walking distance to main attractions and right next to Elephant Trunk Hill
  • Good reviews on Trip.com and free cancellation
  • Stunning views of the karst mountains
  • Value for money hotel in Guilin

Overall, we had a great experience and would happily return to this hotel. The hotel was clean, the service was excellent, the suite was spacious with a view towards Elephant Trunk Hill, breakfast was delicious and varied and we felt it was a good value for money for a hotel in central Guilin.

We share more about our experience below.

How to get to Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin

Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin enjoys a prime location in Guilin. The hotel is conveniently situated near Guilin Railway Station (1.8km). If you are flying to Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, the hotel is 30km away.

With our booking via Trip.com, we also qualified for a free pick service from Guilin Railway Station or Guilin North Railway Station but we didn’t use this as we travelled by bus/taxi from Yangshuo to Guilin.

Its prime location allows easy access to key attractions and points of interest such as Two Rivers and Four Lakes, Elephant Hill Scenic Area, The Sun Pagoda And The Moon Pagoda.

Check-in Experience

The reception desk is by the main entrance. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We previously communicated via WeChat and received prompt replies and useful information.

We arrived before lunch and completed the check-in formalities promptly. Due to our early arrival, our room wasn’t ready but we were able to leave our luggage and go to explore Guilin. The receptionist messaged us when the room became available and arranged for the luggage to be left in the room.

Next to the reception desk, you will also find some merchandise for sale and lots of elephant toys – perfect if you visit with kids.

Lobby

The lobby area is spacious, bright and rather cosy. Leather furniture and some comfortable arm chairs are available.

In the lobby, we met with our tour guide for our day trip from Guilin to Reed Flute cave, eea plantation & Longji Rice terraces.

Room Overview

We booked a Standard King Room but with our Trip.com membership level, we got an upgrade to a room with a view towards Elephant Trunk Hill.

The room was spacious and the bed and pillows were comfortable and offered a good night sleep. The highlight was definitely the beautiful view towards the Li river and Elephant Trunk Hill.

We had a sofa, round table with a chair and an armchair by the window. The sofa/day bed was extremely comfortable, we couldn’t agree who should stay there longer.

It was a nice touch to have a tea set on the coffee table. In the evening we did chill by the window and enjoyed a cup of Chinese tea.

There was a wardrobe by the main door with a safe. We had bathrobes of very high quality. The hotel also provides disposable slippers which were also very nice and comfortable.

As you enter the room, on theright side you have the bathroom with lots of toiletries including toothbrush and toothpaste, hair comb, vanity kit, shower cap, soap and hand lotion. This is where the hair dryer is too. I really liked the elephant made from a towel, nice touch!

On one side, you get the toilet and the shower cabin. The usual shower gel, shampoo and body lotion were provided and I liked the rainfall shower as well as the handheld shower.

On the other side you have the bathtub. Needless to say that I had a nice hot bath after a day of walking and exploring the beauty of Guilin.

The bathroom was sparkling clean, everything was functional and in a great condition.

Breakfast at Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin

Overall the breakfast at Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin was great and filling and offered a great selection to choose from to kick start your day. From all the hotels we stood at in China, this hotel offered one the best breakfast experience with delicious food and stunning views.

Breakfast at Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin is served buffet-style and is a blend of Chinese and Western cuisines, catering to diverse tastes. All the food items are presented beautifully and inviting you to sample them.

There different food sections with hot food, steamed food, live cooking (noodles), bread/pastiries and cereals.

From the local selection, you get a noodles station where you can get freshly cooked noodles. You can choose from two types of noodles and a variety of toppings so you can customise them to your own taste and preferences.

Of course, you get a selection of dumplings and steamed vegetables as well. I loved the sweet potato and corn (never thought I would have these for breakfast; it’s usually lunch food for me) and the variety of dumplings.

There was a wide selection of greens, noodles and sliced meats including pork, duck, chicken etc. Fresh salad leaves and dressings were also available.

The pastries and bread section were OK, can’t be compared to European pasties but there was a good variety. A few types of cereals were available as well as milk and yoghurts.

The fruit section was good but not extensive. I liked the watermelon for breakfast, it was very refreshing.

Coffee, tea and juices were available. The coffee was good and the selection of teas was great. We loved the jasmine tea!

One thing we noticed, which is also common for other Chinese breakfasts, is that water is not availalbe at the buffet. If you would like water, just ask, they will always give you a few bottles.

The food was delicious but what made breakfast extra special is the amazing terrace with beautiful views towards the river and Elephant Trunk Hill.

Afternoon Tea with a View at Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin

On arrival we were given a voucher for afternoon tea at the hotel restaurant. This was a very nice touch so after exploring Guilin, we came back to the hotel to enjoy the afternoon tea with a view.

We have had afternoon tea a few times in London and was good to see and compare the food.

We really liked the fresh tea, the cakes and the fruit selection. In fact we loved the fruits and the way they were presented and carefully sliced.

It was different to have chicken nuggets, sausages and fries as part of the afternoon tea but I suppose this is the Chinese interpretation of Western food. We ate almost everything!

Service in the restaurant and in the hotel in general was outstanding!

Hotel Facilities at Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin

The hotel features a small gym with essential equipment. We don’t really go to the gym, so this wasn’t of high importance for us but it’s good to know a gym is available.

If you are driving, parking is also available free of charge.

As in all hotels in China, luggage storage is available and staff members are happy to assist. As we arrived before the actual check-in time, we were able to store our luggage prior to check-in, which was great and allowed us to explore Guiling luggage-free.

Final Thoughts

We were really happy with our choice to stay at Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel Guilin and would certainly recommend this hotel. This was our favourite hotel in China!

This hotel is ideal for travelers looking for a blend of convenience, comfort, picturesque views and affordability in the heart of Guilin. Its proximity to major attractions, excellent service, and thoughtful amenities make it a strong choice for both leisure and business visitors.
