Why We Chose Orange Hotel (Guilin Yangshuo West Street Branch)

In terms of accommodation, we would recommend booking your hotel through an aggregator such as Booking.com or Trip.com to get the best rates. On this occasion, and for all hotels in China, we booked our hotel in Yangshuo via Trip.com.
Given how picturesque Yangshuo is, we wanted a hotel with central location and great views but also easy access to the beautiful surrounding area. We absolutely loved the convinience of this hotel.

We chose Orange Hotel (Guilin Yangshuo West Street Branch), due to the following reasons:
- Great location – walking distance to West Street
- Good reviews on Trip.com and free cancellation
- Beautiful views of the karst mountains from the rooftop
- Recently opened with new facilities
- Value for money hotel in Yangshuo
Overall, we had a great experience and would happily return to this hotel. The hotel was clean, the service was excellent, the room was spacious, breakfast was tasty and we felt it was a good value for money for a hotel in central Yangshuo.

How to get to Orange Hotel (Guilin Yangshuo West Street Branch)

If you are flying to Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, you can either take a coach, which goes to Yangshuo’s West Street, or go by taxi. We took a coach and then a taxi but had we done our research, we would have gotten a taxi from Guilin Airport straight to the hotel as it would’ve been the same price.
Its prime location within walking distance to West Street means that you get the easy access to the amazing night life and activities without hearing the noise from the hustle and bustle of this lively area. Very good hotel in Yangshuo, China.

Check-in Experience

The reception desk is by the main entrance and in fact there were two separate reception desks which brought a nice airy feel to the lobby. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and with little knowledge of English was able to explain the main things we need to know about the hotel.
We arrived in the late afternoon and completed the check-in formalities promptly, before heading for an evening walk around Yangshuo.
Lobby

The lobby area is spacious, bright and rather cosy. The hotel features intelligent robots in the leisure and reception area which adds a modern, tech-forward touch.

During the day you can find some tour operators in the lobby from where you can book tours or rent motorbikes. There is also a refreshments area from where you can grab a drink whilst waiting.
Room Overview

We booked a Superior Double Room for our stay. The room was spacious and the bed and pillows were comfortable and offered a good night sleep.

We had a sofa and a coffee table in addition to the desk area in the room. Paul enjoyed the sofa space whilst I found the bed to be very comfortable. The room had a 75-inch 4K high-definition TV, which was great but we only turned on the TV once.

There was a kettle and some tea provided, as well as complimentary water in the room. We also had some sweets in the room, which I couldn’t have enough of.
One thing I didn’t like is that there wasn’t a wardrobe or enough space for clothers. As you enter the room, there was a clother hanger and some shelves and right next to the door, we had the sink. It seemed rather odd but we have seen this configuration in other hotels too.

We had lots of toiletries including toothbrush and toothpaste, hair comb, vanity kit, shower cap and the standard soap and hand lotion. This is where the hair dryer is too.

On one side of the hallway you get the toilet and the shower cabin. The usual shower gel, shampoo and body lotion were provided and I liked the rainfall shower as well as the handheld shower.

The bathroom was sparkling clean, everything was functional and in a great condition.
Rooftop Terrace

We really enjoyed the rooftop terrace. We had coffee there in the mornings and on the last day we took time to enjoy the beautiful views of the karst mounts before departing to Guilin.

There is clearly a potential for this area as there is a small pool on the rooftop but this wasn’t working at the time of our visit.

Breakfast at Orange Hotel (Guilin Yangshuo West Street Branch)

Overall the breakfast at Orange Hotel (Guilin Yangshuo West Street Branch) was fresh and filling and offered a great selection to choose from to kick start your day.

Breakfast is served buffet-style and offers mainly Chinese food. All the food items are presented beautifully and inviting you to sample them.
There different food sections with hot food, steamed food, live cooking (noodles), bread/pastries and cereals.

You get a noodles station where you can get freshly cooked noodles. You can choose from two types of noodles and a variety of toppings so you can customise them to your own taste and preferences.

I ate noodles every day and there was something nice about the warm broth and freshly cooked noodles.

Of course, you get a selection of dumplings and steamed vegetables as well. I loved the sweet potato and corn (never thought I would have these for breakfast; it’s usually lunch food for me) and the variety of dumplings.

The pastries and bread section were OK, can’t be compared to European pasties but there was a good variety. A few types of cereals were available as well as milk and yoghurts.

The fruit section was good but not extensive. I liked the watermelon for breakfast, it was very refreshing but thought there would be more fruits given the variety you can find in Yangshuo.

Coffee, tea and juices were available. The coffee was good and the selection of teas was great. We loved the jasmine tea!
Hotel Facilities at Orange Hotel (Guilin Yangshuo West Street Branch)

Laundry facilities were key for us, as we travelled around China with limited luggage to allow us flexibility and ease to move around. The laundry room in the hotel is fitted with washing machines and dryers and there are plenty of them!
Washing detergent, laundry baskets and ironing facilities are available. This was a very modern laundry room.

The hotel also features a small gym area. We don’t really go to the gym, so this wasn’t of high importance for us but it’s good to know a gym is available.
Final Thoughts
We were really happy with our choice to stay at this hotel and would certainly recommend it. The modern facilities, spacious room and excellent location was perfect for our needs
