Hilton Doha is an excellent choice for anyone wishing to travel to Doha and experience one of the best hotels Doha has to offer. It is perfectly situated on the West Bank of the Corniche in the Diplomatic District.
Great amenities alongside great hospitality and service offered by the staff should make Hilton Doha an excellent contender for anyone looking to travel to Qatar. Read more below about my experience and why you should consider this hotel.
Why I chose Hotel Hilton Doha
In terms of accommodation, we would recommend booking your accommodation through an aggregator such as Booking.com or Agoda to get the best rates. During our city breaks, we tend to sleep at the hotel, have breakfast and be out and about all day, however, as this was a business trip it also had to cater for some additional requirements.
I chose this hotel for the following reasons:
- Good location – minutes away from Hamad International Airport and a short drive from the heart of the city, the palm-fringed corniche and Doha’s vibrant business district
- Private beach
- Good reviews on TripAdvisor
- Fit the budget for my organisation
- Free cancellation up to the day of check-in.
Overall, I had a good experience. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, breakfast was good and I felt it was a good value for money for a 5 star hotel near central Doha. I share more about my experience below.
How to Get to Hilton Doha
The hotel is conveniently located 25 min drive from Hamad International Airport. On this occasion I got a taxi and was a seamless drive till there. Public transport isn’t necessarily a thing in Doha and you might find yourself you have to rely on either car hire or taxis.

Check-in Experience
As you enter the hotel and any hotel in Doha for that matter you will have to pass through a light airport style security, more for the handbags and bags than anything else. The check-in experience was really smooth.
I arrived in the evening and was greeted by the receptionist who provided a great customer service and explained all I needed to know about my stay.
Once I provided my Hilton Rewards membership ID they also greeted me with the standard phrase and thanked me for being a member. I thought that was a nice touch.
Lobby
The lobby is fairly modern with a seating area in the middle followed by a butterfly staircase which leads to upstairs or further downstairs to the main restaurant and Scuba diving shop.
Within the lobby area you can find the front desk, concierge desk, coffee shop and the bar situated right at the end. Overall, a pleasant place to wait for your taxi.
Hotel Room
I originally booked 2 nights one of the Deluxe Rooms however, on arrival the Receptionist informed me that I will be upgraded free of charge to their Executive Room. I thought that was a very nice thing and really appreciated the effort.
The room was situated on the 21st floor with excellent views towards the Diplomatic District and the West Bank of the Corniche. Unlike my experience at the Hyatt Regency Oryx where I had an internal garden view, it can’t be said the same for here. Read more about my stay at the Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha here.
The photos I took simply don’t do justice to the views at night of the nearby lighten up skyscrapers.
Rooms are equipped with a wide LCD satellite TV, complimentary coffee and tea making facilities, and free Wi-Fi connection.
Overall the TV channels were pretty much news channels, as you’d expect from a brand which caters to the business travel segment. All major news outlets were on the TV guide. The Wi-Fi in the room was also stable and had a good bandwidth.
The main benefit I found was that you didn’t really need to sign-up to it, you just simply connected and accepted the T&C’s.
As you proceed towards the bathroom you have a hallway available with quite a generous amount of storage. Over there you will find the usual hotel perks such as a scale, single use slippers and other such things.
As you proceed further down you will see the bathroom.
Bathroom
The bathroom for this type of room is very generous. You could say it was wasted on me as I didn’t have much time to use the bathtub.
The bathroom hosts 2 generous size glass cabins with the toilet and the second a walk-in rainfall shower setup. The shower must be said was a bit on the tired side and some of the controls were a bit loose and didn’t align to the cold/hot dials.
Not a terrible issue and once you get the gist of it, it becomes a smooth experience afterwards.
You also have a generous sink with vanity unit – perfect to place all your things there. They also provide towels including hand towels however, considering there are only 2 hand towels provided perhaps it would’ve been nice to have them changed daily.
As is with Islamic countries, the bathroom also hosts a bidet and a water hose for those who don’t use toilet paper. Having said this, I felt the toilet paper was way too thin and would’ve liked to see a more premium quality given the rating of the hotel.

Facilities at Hilton Doha
Hilton Doha offers a wide array of exceptional facilities to ensure a memorable and luxurious stay for its guests. Here is an overview of the outstanding amenities and services available at the hotel:
Outdoor Pool
Hilton Doha boasts a stunning outdoor swimming pool surrounded by lush gardens, creating a serene oasis for guests to unwind and soak up the sun. The poolside bar offers refreshing beverages and light snacks, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the pleasant ambiance.
You also have the option to get a towel free of charge. The staff will just ask you for your room number, however, this is merely a formality.
The pool itself is very large and offers swimmers the option to take scuba diving lessons should this be of interest.
The Beach
The beach is one of the main amenities, I would say, for this hotel. The superb private beach although not large but perhaps better than the one we had in Cyprus offers fine yellow sand with a very mellow entrance to the sea.
The views are simply amazing, in the back you can see the sky scrapers and as you look in front of either sides of the Arabian Gulf you can see the Pearl of Qatar peninsula.
Between the pool and the beach you also have a chill out area just by the bar, however, in all fairness as it’s not covered you won’t see anyone there standing in the scorching Qatari Sun.
Wellness and Fitness
The hotel features a state-of-the-art fitness centre equipped with modern equipment, allowing guests to maintain their exercise routines. For those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, the Eforea Spa offers a range of indulgent treatments, including massages, facials, and body therapies.
Whilst I didn’t pay a visit to the Spa area of the hotel I was told it is pretty good.
Business Facilities
With its prime location in the heart of Doha, Hilton Doha is well-equipped to cater to the needs of business travellers. The hotel provides a business centre with modern amenities, including meeting rooms, audio-visual equipment, and high-speed internet access, ensuring productive and successful corporate events.
Dining Options at Hilton Doha
Hilton Doha boasts an impressive selection of dining venues that cater to every palate. Guests can indulge in a culinary journey featuring international flavours at Mawasem, savour delicious seafood at Trader Vic’s, enjoy Italian cuisine at Bab Al Baher, or unwind with a drink at the trendy Society Lounge.
Additionally, the hotel offers in-room dining for those seeking the convenience of dining in the comfort of their rooms.
During my trip I tried the main restaurant Mawasem for breakfast. Note to self, don’t sit in business attire on the outside terrace as you will sweat. Similar to our our experience in Egypt temperatures are very high even in the mornings so best to sit indoors if you can’t tolerate heat.
The breakfast itself in all fairness was a bit of a let down. It did offer a selection of pastries and a very limited variety of breads. You also had a few vegetables and very limited variety in cheese i.e. 1 type of yellow cheese and 1 type of white cheese.
You did have some middle eastern favourites such as baba ganouj or hummus, but it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
I am not sure why such a stingy approach as the hotel did seem to have quite a few guests so food turnover would’ve been fine.
Additionally, you could order eggs your way, whether omelette or simply fried and someone would bring them to you. You also have the option to order coffee at the table. Unlike other 5* hotels, the waiters didn’t seem to be proactive especially with coffee service. You would imagine that was the first thing they’d ask you.
On the positive side they did offer a juice station where you would take a bowl and put in there the fruits and veggies you wanted and someone would’ve juiced them for you.
I also enjoyed a coffee and water at the café in the lobby however, it must be said, whilst the service was exceptional and the individual did try to make conversation I found it very expensive for what it was.
I ordered a double espresso and a 750 ml bottle of water which added to £15. To put it in perspective the coffee shop across the street offered the same combination for half the price.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think the Hilton Doha is an excellent contender when looking at accommodations in Doha. Whether just having a stopover or business meeting in the city, I think this hotel offers a great deal of value.
If travelling for leisure this is an excellent option as you get a private beach and pool as well as all the perks of being in the prestigious Diplomatic District of Doha. If you are prepared to accept the slightly dated décor and fairly mediocre breakfast (for a 5* hotel) then I would suggest you definitely consider this hotel.
Having said this, the hotel falls within the thumbs up category and I would encourage you to review the rates.
